Physiotherapist In
1998 he qualified from Brunel University with
a 1st Class BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy.
On qualification he joined Guy’s
& St. Thomas’ NHS Trust, the largest
teaching hospital in the country, where he worked
for 5years, specialising in musculo-skeletal treatment
and rehabilitation, including acupuncture, joint
mobilisation, hydrotherapy and myofascial release. |
If his face seems familiar it may be that you have
seen him on BBC 1’s City Hospital where he was
regularly featured working as Senior Orthopaedic Physiotherapist
in 2002/3.
During his time at Guy’s & St. Thomas’,
James worked at the London Marathon and also worked
part-time as academy physiotherapist at Arsenal Football
Club where he worked with the professional and amateur
players, assessing match fitness and treating injuries.
This included being head Physiotherapist for an international
tournament in Holland against some of Europe’s
greats including Juventus, Milan and Lyon.
After leaving Arsenal, James worked as London Towers
Basketball Team physiotherapist for their 2002-3 season.
This was particularly challenging and involved regular
travelling but he was rewarded with a National trophy
finalist’s medal and gained further sport-specific
experience.
In 2003 James joined Balance Performance Physiotherapy,
a rapidly developing specialist sports, spinal, injury
rehabilitation and sports training centre in Clapham,
south London. Headed by three influential physiotherapists:
Dr Lucy Goldby, back specialist and international lecturer;
Graham Anderson, physiotherapist for Team GB at the
2000 and 2004 Olympics, British hockey, boxing and Judo;
and Jonathan Lewis, physiotherapist and personal trainer
to many elite athletes in London, being one of the UK’s
only certified kettlebell trainers.
During his time at Balance, James has further specialised
in the field of functional sports rehabilitation including
the use of slow-motion digital video analysis which
allows a more accurate diagnosis of movement dysfunction.
His sporting clients have come from sports as diverse
as kite-surfing, ultimate Frisbee, climbing, cycling,
swimming and the full range of contact ball sports.
He has been privileged to work with professional international
footballers, Judo champions, triathletes and some of
the top 10 tennis players in the world at various events.
Having moved to Guildford, James has now focussed his
attention on developing his own company, Physio2You
which aims to deliver high quality physiotherapy, acupuncture,
sports analysis, rehabilitation and personal training.
He continues to work part-time at Balance in London
whilst establishing his business in the Guildford area
His current interests include running, cycling, climbing,
snowboarding and ice-climbing. Last year he summited
Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and he hopes to further
develop his climbing and mountaineering as well as taking
up multi-event team racing and perhaps triathlon.
